Ultrasound technician is very famous in the current trend and they are also called as the medical sonographers. They owe a recognized and responsible position in the medical filed which is next to the doctor and nurse. Several responsibilities and duties are included in the ultrasound technician's job. Sound waves are used by the technicians to produce the images. Sound waves with high frequency  are generally passed into the human body in the sonography process. The sound waves generated are reflected into organs producing the image of the organ in the monitor.

Before the procedures the patient is prepared by the technician by collecting the history of the patients and by putting patient's in appropriate position.  The equipments necessary to perform the procedures are arranged and the gel is spread on the patient's body where the image must be spotted. Transducers are placed near the patient's skin while undergoing the procedures. Sound waves are transmitted with the help of the equipment called as the transducers. The ultrasound technician's work is to check the problems in the specified area of the skin and to record them for future reference.

The quality of image taken is a major concern in this field and the technician must choose the bets image for performing the future procedures. In the earlier period the images developed by the sonograms were flat and with the advancement in the technology the pictures taken now has 4D and 3D effects available. Neurosonography is a concept that deals with treatment for brain. Abdominal sonographers are the technicians who evaluate the problems in kidneys, liver, gallbladder, spleen and the other organs present in abdomen.

The technicians dealing with female reproductive system and the blood vessel are called as echocardiography and they have specialization in field of gynecology and obstetric sonography. The career in the ultrasound field is broad and the students can select their own area or field based on their needs to get specialization. Large number of program is available in this field to support the people who prefer their career as an ultrasound technician.

Salary of the ultrasound technician is based on the experience, facilities, education and geography.
