Search engine optimization is not like pay-per-click marketing, you cannot have hundreds of keywords instantly on prominent pages of search engines once optimization begins. You need to build them over a period of time. So what are the methods that you can use to optimize more keywords for a particular site of yours?

1. Create “Smart Pages”. Let say you want to optimize a brand new sets of keywords for one of your optimized site. Instead of changing the old set of keywords, you can create a brand new page and name it according to the keywords that you want to optimize. For example, “Search-Engine-Optimization.html” is a good naming convention for smart pages.

2. Place different sets of keywords in the Title tags of different pages. For your main page, you can place a set of keywords that you think is appropriate to the content in it. For other pages of your website, you can now place other set of keywords in the title tags, with the more important keywords at the front.

3. Getting links back to your site. You should establish back links for each of your pages that you are optimizing for. For example, if you have a sub page which is optimizing for keywords like “Search engine optimization services”, you should include this keyword as your anchor text while conducting linking campaigns. For other pages, you should place keywords as your anchor texts accordingly.

4. Content, content and content. Have different content for different pages that you are optimizing for. If you have a page that is optimizing for affiliate marketing keywords, make sure that the content has related keywords in it.

Slowly add more new pages to your site to increase the number of keywords for optimization. In the long run, search engines will come to love your site if valuable content is provided.
